New American Welders Find Employment Success

We’re pleased to highlight Ahmed Museh’s successful employment as a welder at Fab-Tech, Inc in Colchester!  The welding workforce development project continues.  If you are intested in joining the project as a participant, feel free to contact project manager Naweza Muderhwa at 985-3106.  The project is partnership between the Advanced Welding Institute, the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program, and the AALV.

Congratulations, Ahmed Museh, for your graduation from the AALV’s welding project!  Ahmed is the first project graduate, and he shows particular promise.  Ahmed is currently receiving assistance from AALV and the AWI to find work which will utilize his stick welding skills.  To learn more about the project, contact AALV Program Specialist Naweza Muderhwa.

Saturday Welding Class Promotes Economic Self-Sufficiency

The AALV’s welding workforce development project is actively preparing members of our community for jobs which pay livable wages and contribute to Vermont’s economy.  Said Bulle is a student in the Saturday class.

 Vermont has one of the oldest workforces in the nation, particularly in the trades.  An old workforce means more retirees and more dependence on government assistance.  Refugees are generally young and  very eager to learn job skills.  Do you have ideas for other trades or employment sectors in Vermont where there is a shortage of trained labor?
